UBgo Digital Banking Revamp

UBgo is Union Bank's digital banking platform in Sri Lanka, offering both Internet Banking and a Mobile Banking App. It lets customers transfer funds, pay bills, manage their portfolio and more. Working at Epic Lanka — first as an intern, then as Associate UI/UX Developer — I was the lead designer on the full revamp, aligning the web and mobile experiences with Union Bank's design consultant.

The challenge › Bring internet banking and the mobile app into one seamless, consistent experience, while meeting the clarity, accessibility and trust that banking customers expect.

Before designing anything, the problem was split into its parts:

1. I

   Journeys — every flow defined in the bank's Functional Specification Documents (FSDs)

2. II

   Core tasks — fund transfers, bill payments and portfolio management

3. III

   Consistency — one design language across web and mobile

4. IV

   Validation — testing decisions with real users

1. I · Discover

   Reviewed the Functional Specification Documents (FSDs) to understand every user journey and feature interaction.

2. II · Structure

   Turned the FSDs into well-defined wireframes mapping user journeys, and worked through each flow in discussions with product, BA and bank-side teams.

3. III · Design

   Designed high-fidelity web and mobile screens on a shared component library, aligning both platforms with Union Bank's design consultant.

4. IV · Build

   Took part in front-end development (Angular and SCSS) alongside the web and mobile developers.

5. V · Refine with real feedback

   Ran usability tests to validate design decisions, improve accessibility and optimise interactions based on real user insights.
